Goals and Purpose?

Norway is a wealthy and diverse society characterised by a varied range of cultures, worldviews, and cultural minorities. Our vision is to ensure that this diversity is clearly represented in literature for children and young adults.

It is crucial that children and young people from cross-cultural backgrounds can identify with the literature, through characters and environments that reflect their unique cultural perspectives. This is important for strengthening their identity development and for promoting acceptance and normalisation of cultural diversity in our society. However, this is equally important for children without cross-cultural backgrounds. When all children read books that include different cultures, they learn about the differences and similarities that exist among people. This opens the door to understanding and respect, and contributes to building a more open and inclusive society. Literature has the power to broaden the perspectives of young readers, regardless of their own background, thereby creating better interaction and community in our diverse world.

Our mission is to motivate more individuals from minority backgrounds to write and publish literature for children and young adults. BedreVi Publishing aims to reduce barriers by offering partnerships, advice, and guidance throughout the process towards publication.
