ABOUT THE BOOK

Chasing Death – a gripping novel about mental health

Today's youth face many challenges, and unfortunately, they are not always heard. Chasing Death is a novel for young adults and adults, partially based on a true story. It combines psychological drama with a world characterised by mystique and inner struggles in a tale of pain, loneliness, and hope.

Jason struggles against his darkest nightmare – a life marked by bullying, loss, and an ever-growing obsession with death. When he meets the mysterious Niran, the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur. Is she a saviour or a threat?

The book highlights the importance of mental health and the need to be heard. Jason feels alone, but sometimes it is the voices in his head that scream the loudest. Will he manage to fight his way back to the light?

Chasing Death is written in English, easy to read, and is well-suited for readers aged 15 and above.

About the Author

Cherihane Chehade (39) was born in Lebanon but spent parts of her upbringing in Norway before completing her education in Lebanon. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in educational leadership. In 2020, she moved back to Norway, where she lives with her husband and two children. She works as a lecturer and subject leader in English at Glemmen Upper Secondary School and is also the coordinator for MiR (Diversity, Inclusion and Respect) in Fredrikstad.

This spring, she is relaunching her novel Chasing Death in Norway – a story that reflects the challenges of youth and mental health. For Chehade, writing has always had an important purpose: to encourage young people to share their own experiences and understand that behind every smile, there may be a story we do not know.
